About
Amy Sayers is a writer, mother, visual artist, and Pilates Instructor. She comes from a deep lineage of writers and artists. Her grandfather, Boris Yelensky authored two books: In the Social Storm and The Struggle for Equality. Her father, Martin Kallman, was a well-known poet, classical pianist and artist.
Born in New York City, Amy grew up outside of Detroit, Michigan, in a purple house, surrounded by literature, art and classical music. Amy was always writing and combined poetry with dance when she studied dance, choreography, and literature at Wayne State University and UC Santa Cruz. She then danced and performed NYC. In 1986, Amy felt summoned to move to New Mexico, to study the healing arts.
.
There, she met her British husband, Gavin Sayers. After a whirl wind courtship they married and moved to Dallas, Texas for three years.
With the adoption of their daughter, they knew that nature would be a key element for raising a child and moved back to New Mexico. There they found peace and harmony, walking the arroyos and hiking the foothills of the Rockies—it’s PLACE that calls them home.
Through her experience of DES fallout, which led to infertility and breast cancer, Amy has found a way to give back to her community and brings her unique methods of healing to all her clients, including nutrition, painting, Pilates, and writing.
Amy currently lives in Santa Fe, NM with her husband, Gavin, their two dogs, and an orange tabby kitten. She is currently working on a novel, (set in the US and Devon, UK) while querying her memoir. Her daughter is a working actor in Los Angeles.
